February 17, 2005 - Washington, DC - The Marian Koshland Science Museum of the National Academy of Sciences welcomed its 20,000th visitor, just 9 months after opening. J.R. Holloway, a shy but ambitious 4th grader and aspiring scientist, was surprised to learn that he was the museum’s 20,000th visitor Monday morning. He and his mother Linda Holloway were visiting DC from Grapevine, Texas. “He loves science” said Linda Holloway. “Among the many things to do here in DC, he wanted to come to the science museum.” To mark this special occasion, Linda and J.R. Holloway were presented with certificates and museum memorabilia by Patrice Legro, the museum’s director.

Through state-of-the-art exhibitions, engaging public programs, school field trips, and special events, the museum has attracted visitors from the local area, from around the country and around the world. In April, the museum will show it’s appreciation for public support by hosting a first year anniversary celebration.
