Humans are Impacting Global Climate Processes

Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas (GHG) that is playing an increasingly prominent role in Earth’s climate. Human-generated emissions of carbon dioxide and other GHGs impact the balance of several global climate processes.

As a result, the world is entering a new geologic era, sometimes called the Anthropocene (Anthropo = “human”, cene = “new”), in which human activities largely control the evolution of Earth’s environment.
