Play: Pandemic

Event Date:
Thursday, January 26, 2012 - 6:30pm

Join your fellow gamers and people concerned about public health to save the world from deadly infectious diseases.

The museum’s exhibit, “Infectious Disease: Evolving Challenges to Human Health,”  gives a new perspective—and may inform your strategy—on the board game Pandemic[j1] .  Each player takes on a role and work as a team to try to save humanity.

Will you develop a cure, and a means to deliver it to the world population? Can you develop this strategy before large percentages of the public die? Players will debate these issues while working as a team to solve global health challenges.

In this game scenario, you are a specialist at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, where you watch infectious diseases break out all over the world. Your team’s mission is to prevent spread by treating hot spots and investigating cures for each of the infections.

Grab your friends and form a team or come on your own and make new friends.

This is also your chance to tour the infectious disease exhibit before it closes to make way for the new Life Lab, coming this spring.

Advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended. For tickets, contact the Koshland Science Museum at (202) 334-1201 or ksm@nas.edu
