Celebrate the Koshland Science Museum’s new Food for Thought exhibit with special events and festivities, including hands-on science activities, games, raffles, ribbon-tying demonstrations, and holiday decorations.
In the new exhibit, explore the science of healthy eating throughout your life:
- Shop a grocery store to make decisions about the best choices for you and your family
- Play a high school cafeteria game to balance healthy plate guidelines and stay within budget
- Explore nutrition requirements at every stage of life and see how what your body requires changes over time
- Test your knowledge about dietary supplements
At the hands-on science activity stations, test your memory and get tips to improve your memory through a few simple strategies. Then, compare the sugar levels in many common beverages and decide which drinks are healthiest. What you learn may surprise you.
A special game lounge will feature five different logic and strategy games. Play on your own or compete with friends and family. Who can use critical thinking and deductive reasoning to plan ahead and beat their opponent? Exercise your mind and your body with Wii brain challenges that test logic, math, memory, and visual thinking skills.
Raffled items include delicious chocolate gift bags donated by Co Co. Sala Restaurant and Chocolate Boutique (Washington, DC), a beautiful holiday floral arrangement donated by Jack H. Lucky Floral Designs (Arlington, VA) and a tasty gift basket donated by Design Cuisine (Arlington, VA).
Activities are recommended for ages 10 and above and are included at no additional charge with regular admission.
