A Year of Celebration: The NAS at 150

As 2013 comes to a close, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) reflects on a year of events celebrating its 150th anniversary. Founded in 1863 by President Abraham Lincoln, the NAS has promoted excellence in science throughout its history and served as a vital source of independent, authoritative advice to the nation on matters of science, engineering, and medicine.
